Among SuperHuman at St DAMIAN, House for Leprosy & Differently-able, Cancar. Kecamatan Ruteng

At 4pm Enu Lila and family took me to St Damian, House for Leprosy & Differently-abled at Cancar, Kecamatan Ruteng. I Brought comfort dolls, toys & clothing for. them.                    We met Suster (Nun) Franseline Isabela Sabu , she just back served in South Sudan for 2 years and now she’s back to St Damian where she belong. She’s strong, energetic. Love children and bright. With an open arms she welcomes us and let us interact with the patients, children and adult.

Sr Virgula SSpS from Germany the founder of Rumah Sakit dan Pusat Rehabilitasi Kusta dan Anak Cacat (Hospital and House for Leprosy & Differently-abled Rehabilitation) in 1960’s and helped many children and adult to survive

Helping others is what I saw in every way, Polio children helping children with no hands, children with 1 hand helping children with no feet. Some time I asked God why He created them? I know it’s not my business, so far I have the answer myself, we have to learn from them, learn how to be strong and feel blessed and thankful.

6pm we join the prayers at the chapel, hear them praying, they always say Thank you to God, they’re humble and grateful. Had dinner with them is another experience, helping hand in hand, they helped each other, they serve others, from the kitchen to server. Simple meal; rice and vegetables and small piece of fish and water for drink.

Sr Franseline asked me to stand and introduced myself, who am I, where I came from and reason why am I here. After dinner, I met Paskalis, a bright young boy with his leg problem, he play keyboard and singer, and he shared stories while all of the difable team had a chance to show their ability to sing and dance in Labuan Bajo celebrating International day of people with disability, December 3rd, 2017. Amazing moment to sleep over at St Damian, night time, from distance I can see lights in mountain, stars and full moon today.

Sunday morning we went to the Chapel and almost full, they’re people from neighborhood and alumnus of St Damian too. So touching and again how lucky I am celebrating the day among SuperHuman at St Damian. After Chapel all of us had coffee and kompyang with Sr Franseline and other Suster, I really enjoy day, I said to Sr Franseline, I promise will spread my mission Ride for Others to my other friend, so it will roll and wide spread. Because I know I can help with my ideas, do some repairs, teach the children how to paint, making crafts, fixing things.

So many things we can do at St Damian, carpenters, art, nursery, management, helping financially and voluntarily.

Information; altogether 75 person at St Damian, from Suster, worker and patients, so they need 13-15kg of rice per week, CAD $100 for their vegetables and fish, 45 litre of kerosene exclude coffee, tea, cookies and sugar.

St Damian had a production unit which need a hand to run the unit, need a person who willing to help others, the unit need attention and sustainable management.

Sr Franseline will work hard to manage St Damian, but she can’t do by herself, St Damian is calling, they need help.

Cycling in Ruteng

December 2nd, 2017

Weathers not so pleasant this morning, Kae Leo (familiar name for Leonardus Nyoman) asked me to join cycling around Ruteng. After 10am we grabbed bikes at Enu Lila’s Mom house not far from where I stay and we start to pedal with Kae Leo, Ino Jemadu, Igen Marley (Rasta lover) and myself.

Beautiful scenery made me happy and feel home, Green hills and up and down the bike trek using the village road is quite a challenge too. Finally on the way home we stop at a small café; Kopi Mane (Afternoon Coffee in Manggaraian language) we had lunch and share stories.

SLBN Komodo (Komodo Differently-abled School, Labuan Bajo)

November 28th , 2017

Mart Sakeus been an art tutor to a special boy at differently-abled school at SLBN Komodo, so he asked me to come and share my experiences with them. The school was not bad at all, a modern building, provide by the Government but the teachers have to get their own salary to taught in this school.

Mart & I met the Principal, he’s outside clean up the garden, and finally we met teachers and differently-abled children. Special boy who appear is Roy, he is mute but he is a rising star, He’s an artist, his painting is stunning and unbelievable how he manage line, shape and color on canvas. Thank you Mart Sakeus for helping Roy to fill his dream.

Then come to gather the children and teachers at the lobby, they’re shouting, singing running, I feel among the SuperHuman, yes they are the superhuman, they are strong, thankful and never gave up. One of the teacher asked me to play guitar when he saw children start to sing, and suddenly together they sing “I have a dream” (– Westlife) I can’t stop my eyes from starring at them, I can’t hold my tears in my eyes, wondering how they surrender to life, their heart so pure, they have their dreams too….

They keep on singing and dancing and hold my hand, poke and shake hand. I am grateful to be here and share a moment with them. I shared toys and clothing for them this time, painting supplies will be next.

Cunca Liang Kantor, Mbeliling (Liang Kantor Waterfall)

November 27th , 2017

Mart Sakeus’s uncle worked at the Department of Forestry at Mbeliling mountain not far from Nggorang, Mart’s LontArt Studio. Today Mart and his uncle took me to his friend because his uncle said that I can give them ideas about Desa Wisata (Tourist Village Destination) and Green Environment Development So we ride a motorcycle to Mbeliling village and met the Leader of the kampung/village.

I asked to the leader what they need the most regarding the tourist attraction in the village and the development for the future. And I concern about the environment. The culture and it’s local content, must be aware and careful to treat the modernism and protect the forest from trash specially plastic.

Preparing the “work together as team with local is the key” people should get involve and think the next generation, not only in the next 5 or 10 years. Environment have to treat with the best before they regret and it’s too late.

We took a small trek to the Mbeliling mountain and stop at Cunca Liang Kantor (Meeting Cave Waterfall) it’s a natural waterfall surrounded by old trees and wild bushes. It’s not that hard to get there and it’s beautiful, just need a clean program, a safe trek and a guide to lead.
